Laura has been working with horses since age 10, following in her
sister's footsteps of a horse crazy girl. Becoming disenchanted with
showing, Laura was much more dedicated to developing the relationship
between horse and rider. She began her classical riding training at
age 24 with "Blueboy" as a spunky 3 year old. Since then, she has been
pulled stronger and stronger toward all natural riding, tack and
hoofcare.
The natural path lead her to study Dr. Hiltrud Strasser's book "Lifetime
of Soundness" and she was struck by the simple, natural and common
sense approach to horse keeping. With no suitable farriers to continue
work with her foundered mare "Inca", she decided to attend the
International Center for Equine Arts to learn of Dr. Strasser's methods
and research. In June 2005 Laura graduated with a Strasser Hoofcare
Professional Certification. Since then she has worked with a number of
horses and owners on education of the function and form of the hoof and
helped conventionally doomed horses back to a working productive life.
Notable influences in her horse life include her time spent with Lynn
Palm and Cyril Pittion-Rossillon at her clinics and Equestrian School
in Bessemer Michigan, and lessons with Lusitano breeder and former
Bullfighter Sr. Gaston Santos at Rancho La Jarilla in Tamuin Mexico.
Of course, the most significant influence of all would be the all the
lessons from the horses that have touched her life.
